Top Ten Big Brother Houses Around The World

If you are a big brother fan then this post is for you.  The world’s most addictive reality television programme is about to kick off in Africa while already airing in Germany and the UK, the Celebrity Big Brother housemates are settling into their new homes away from home. But it’s not just the contestants that capture the attention of Big Brother’s global audience.
From indoor pools to secret rooms, luxurious hot tubs to futuristic furnishings, the Big Brother houses are anything but boring. Lets take you on a tour of the top 10 Big Brother houses around the world.
Germany’s Celebrity Haven
The first series of Promi Big Brother (Celebrity Big Brother) in Germany created a lavish escape for its celebrity residents. Taking opulence one step further, the house boasted fur bedcovers, thrones, animal skin rugs and gold-plated furnishings. And that’s just the inside. A beach, pool bar and hot tub were just a few of the luxuries on hand for the chosen celebrities to make use of during their stay.

Australia’s Lap of Luxury
Located just outside the Dreamworld theme park in Gold Coast Australia, the Big Brother 2009 house adopted an aquatic theme, with extravagant fish tanks, Captain’s Quarters, complete with a swimming pool and sauna, and sea-life-inspired decor. The house included a naughty room, for any misbehaving housemates, complete with an opaque to transparent window, for the other residents’ pleasure.

Africa’s All Stars
The house for Africa’s very first All Star season was the epitome of lavish, dripping with jewels and plush velvet accessories. With chandeliers, candelabras and rich furnishings that wouldn’t look out of place in a royal palace, spending 92 days in this dream house would definitely not cause a problem.

American Dream
The house for the USA’s Big Brother 15 series played on a mid-century modern theme, with each room’s decor designed to capture the imagination of its housemates: Themes include: The jet-setter room, with its own glamorous cocktail bar, vintage decor and futuristic seating area; the bathroom for senses, designed like a sauna; and the skyline room, a luxurious, monochrome penthouse. And there’s plenty of entertainment to keep the housemates occupied, including a pool table, chess board and immersion pool.

Indonesia’s Celebrity Enclosure
Trapped in the house for more than 30 days, with no contact with the outside world, Celebrity Big Brother in Indonesia quarantined its housemates in a house with more than 50 cameras. Those lucky enough to avoid the celebrity “cell”, used to capture badly-behaved housemates, enjoyed luxurious outdoor lounge areas to soak up the sun.

Bulgarian Retreat

Croatian Paradise

Filipino Design Heaven
Now in its fifth season, Pinoy Big Brother welcomed its housemates into an interior designer’s dream. With textured wallpapers, complementary patterns and prints, and eccentric furniture, the Big Brother house is spacious, colorful and full to the brim with modern, lavish amenities.

British Grandeur
Celebrity Big Brother 2014 has just kicked off in the UK, but let’s look back to 2013 to the beautiful abode that became the inmates’ new home. The theme was clearly opulence for 2013, with chandeliers dangling from the ceiling, bearskin rugs and gold adornments, fit for any VIP. There was no shortage of luxury, with topiaries and statues, a treehouse and hot tub to keep the celebrities occupied during their stay.

Relax in Brazil
If you were lucky enough to enter Big Brother Brazil’s season 11 house and live in the Rich House, you would never want to leave. The mansion interior boasts candy-themed bedrooms, a retro, neon kitchen and zen bathroom, whilst the exterior’s palm tree-lined, poolside sun haven provides the perfect location for housemates to relax, sunbathe, take a dip in the pool, relax in the hot tub and truly enjoy their stay. Those subjected to life in the Poor House, were not quite so lucky. Life on this side of Big Brother lacks beds, food, and fun of any kind.

Enigma Mansion: South Africa’s Most Expensive Property!

Jawitz markets opulent Cape Town residence South Africa’s most expensive property, Enigma Mansion

Jawitz Properties has secured the hottest mandate in South Africa to date – for the most expensive, luxurious property to come on to the residential market. This 7130m 2 palatial residence, known as Enigma Mansion, situated in the most prestigious and prime residential area of Cape Town, between Clifton and Camps Bay, comes with a price tag of R300 million (€30 million/$36,5 million).

The property in its entirety takes up four erven, between three streets in the most sought out area of Camps Bay – The Glen — best known for being a luxurious, peaceful haven, sheltered from Cape Town’s well-known, ferocious wind. Just 50 metres from the base of Table Mountain Park and adjoining a nature reserve on two of its other boundaries, Enigma comprises 6000m 2 of outdoor space including parks and gardens with attractive waterways and ponds.

“Despite its private and quiet location, the bustling restaurants and cafés along Camps Bay beach are just three minutes away, bringing convenience to this dream coastal lifestyle that Enigma Mansion epitomises,” says Francois Venter, Director of Jawitz Properties.

The main residence has three floors and stretches over 1586m2, with a 627m2 basement level, ground floor totalling 638m2, and first floor covering 321m2. A studio at the west bottom of the property has its own separate street access with living space of 264m 2 spread over the ground and first floors, and there is a separate guest house on site with private street access comprising 250m 2.

The residence also offers an atelier, winter garden, sauna, gym, teahouse, massage temple, staff quarters, herb and vegetable garden as well as many terraces, with the highlight being an artistically – designed Olympic-sized swimming pool with marble inlays.

Enigma houses every possible luxury, from its state-of-the-art technology system with iPads controlling all the functions throughout the property, an 80m2 3D cinema, and an extensive selection of artwork from paintings and photographs, to sculptures and statues.

The décor surpasses 7-star quality and is an eclectic mix of Classic, French, Asian, Georgian Colonial, and Moroccan influences, with luxury fitted into every detail. Taking inspiration from the Louis XIV period and Hotel Costes in Paris, the interior features were chosen for their beauty and opulence, with no expense spared and include bespoke, imported wall fabrics, curtains, rugs, and antique fittings and finishes.

The property benefits from 24 hour armed response and 36 cameras monitoring the grounds at all times. There are electronic safes in each bedroom, as well as panic buttons, and a ‘panic room’ in the master suite. For extra peace of mind, there are 16 security guards that patrol the premises 24 hours a day.

With a glamorous history, Enigma Mansion has previously acted as accommodation for A-list celebrities, artists, CEOs of big corporations, royalty and other high net worth individuals, and has been used for photo shoots and as a movie location.

It took seven years to plan and build this dream property, with the aim of achieving the most unique collaboration of style and luxury in to a stunning setting that boasts unrivalled beauty.

Enigma is unlike any other residence in South Africa and can only be compared to extravagant homes in the South of France, Beverley Hills or Long Island. Enigma Mansion defines an unsurpassed, luxurious lifestyle and is a home making history in the South African property market.

Zimbabwe Minister Kasukuwere’s 50 bed room mansion

Zimbabwe Minister Kasukuwere’s 50 bed room mansion

Zimbabwe Minister Kasukuwere’s 50 bed room mansion

Zimbabwe Minister Kasukuwere’s 50 bed room mansion

ZANU-PF cadres loyal to Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa are pushing to have Kasukuwere arrested over his handling of the country’s many Community Share Ownership Schemes (CSOSs).
On Tuesday Kasukuwere for the second week running failed to turn up for the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment to answer Brainworks corruption charges.
The spotlight has particularly been on indigenisation deals involving mining companies namely the Zimbabwe Platinum Mines (Zimplats), Mimosa, Blanket Mine and Unki — owned by Anglo America Corporation.
At the time these transactions were negotiated, Kasukuwere was the indigenisation minister.
Former Hurungwe West independent Temba Mliswa has dared Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) commissioner general Gershem Pasi to collect taxes from elite politicians like Kasukuwere whom he alleges is building a monstrous house with many rooms.
“I would like to throw simple questions, Kasukuwere the house you are building in Glen Lorne, three floors with an elevator and over 50 bedrooms.  He owes me $13 000 from service station rentals.  How then did he get the money?” queried Mliswa during a recent news conference in Harare.
He added: “Zimra, I mean Gershem Pasi is busy going for small boys, why can’t he go for these big boys. That’s my challenge for Gershem Pasi. Go for these big boys. Let’s see where the money is coming from. The moment that you say I’m now this rich, we start asking have you been paying tax.  If you are a true leader you must pay your tax”.
“The other guys who are purporting to be rich do so while Zimra is sitting on millions of what they owe but because they have political connections and so forth, it’s just being put on hold,” said Mliswa.
Kasukuwere responded saying Mliswa should not start “a war he can’t sustain” by publicly attacking him and Zanu PF secretary for administration Ignatius Chombo at campaign rallies, adding the ruling party might be forced to expose his dark past.
“If he thinks he has support as he claims, let us meet in Hurungwe West on June 10. He must not mistake the support he got riding on President Robert Mugabe’s name by saying it is him who is popular.
Soon we will exorcise his ghost just in the same way we have done with the MDC in the whole country,” Kasukuwere said.
Kasukuwere challenged Mliswa to reveal why he was kicked out of London if “he was really clean”.
“As they say, those who stay in glass houses must not throw stones, I plead with Mliswa to stop being malicious and desist from maligning our good standing. I, for one, my money is easily traceable. I can challenge anyone who wants to come and I will show the source of my small but appreciative wealth,” he said.
Kasukuwere added: “This guy must close his mouth for once before his evil deeds are put bare for all to see. He must learn to carry his own cross and not blame patriotic Zanu PF members for his political misfortune, but he must look straight in the eyes of his ambitious uncle, one Didymus Mutasa, and ask him why they wanted to kill the President.
“I will not lose sleep just because Mliswa has opened his mouth and uttered his nonsense. I am focused on growing the party and rescuing it from the jaws of corruption and selfish agendas which the Gamatox people wanted it to be at.”
Mayor Justice Wadyajena, the chairman of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment is under increasing pressure from ZANU-PF hawks that feel threatened by Kasukuwere’s rising political stock to exert pressure on Parliament in order to have him investigated for his role in the CSOSs with a view to causing his arrest.
Despite his youthful age, Wadyajena has combined his financial clout, sharp tongue and extensive political connections to cause political tremors in ZANU-PF.
Despite his youthful age, Wadyajena has combined his financial clout, sharp tongue and extensive political connections to cause political tremors in ZANU-PF.
Towards the ZANU-PF congress held last year, he was one of the key architects behind former vice president Joice Mujuru’s downfall.
Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda last year indicated that Wadyajena’s could not summon Kasukuwere to appear before his committee and answer questions pertaining to issues that happened when he was still minister of youth, indigenisation and economic empowerment, the committee thinks otherwise.
Kasukuwere’s first summons were linked to the US$1,8 billion indigenisation deals that were handled by Brainworks Capital Management but never materialised.
How Brainworks was given a tender to be a consultant for the National Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Board (NIEEB) without going to tender was one of the questions that Kasukuwere was supposed to answer before the committee.
Regardless of Mudenda’s advice, the committee has asked the ZANU-PF stalwart to come and answer questions on how the Marange-Zimunya Community Share Ownership Scheme was handled.Indications are that the committee intends to go beyond the Marange-Zimunya scheme to enquire from Kasukuwere how Brainworks came into the picture with regards to other empowerment transactions.
Under the Marange-Zimunya Community Share Ownership Scheme, some US$50 million was pledged, but only about half a million materialised ever since President Mugabe launched the scheme in 2012.
Wadyajena could not be contacted for comment. His mobile number was barred from all incoming calls.
However, that Brainworks chief executive officer, George Manyere, recently appeared before the committee professing ignorance over the government tender system and that his company was never paid a cent for their consultancy work, was quite telling of the brewing plot against Kasukuwere.
ZANU-PF informants said party snipers were angling to use the Parliament route to set their sights on Kasukuwere because he, along with newly appointed Education Minister Jonathan Moyo were being seen as the brains behind an obscure faction going by the name Generation 40, or simply G40, which seeks to renew ZANU-PF from within.

Strive Masiyiwa house pictures - Strive rents $40,000 a-month New York pad

Strive rents $40,000 a-month New York pad

Prime real estate ... Manhattan’s 737 Park Ave features glamourous contemporary homes

New York City home ... Econet founder Strive Masiyiwa

STRIVE Masiyiwa, Zimbabwe’s wealthiest man, has just rented a $40,000-a-month luxury pad in New York City, it was revealed Wednesday.

According to the New York Post, Masiyiwa who is now based in London, has just moved into a five bedroom luxurious unit at Manhattan’s 737 Park Ave which was developed by leading real estate investor Harry Macklowe.

The revelation will likely discomfit the telecoms tycoon and philanthropist, who never flaunts his wealth and is notoriously protective of his private life.
His 12th-floor rental was originally asking $49,500 a month.

It features five bedrooms, 7½-bathroom unit, a windowed chef’s kitchen, a master suite with a windowed dressing area and two spa bathrooms.
Should they want to buy the unit outright, the Masiyiwas would have to fork out around $19 million.

Built in 1940, 737 Park Ave has been transformed into a glamourous contemporary condominium, taking its place alongside Park Avenue's grand apartment houses, says Macklowe Properties.

“Each home is thoughtfully designed with gracefully flowing layouts, generous uses of space, large living, dining and bedrooms, solid oak floors and new casement windows,” the company adds.

“Residents enjoy 24-hour doorman and elevator operators, a resident manager, fitness centre, children's playroom, private storage and bicycle and stroller storage.

“Entertaining, dining and social events are available in our garden room - a wonderful amenity unique to 737 Park Avenue residents.
“Homes have been created that are special, but so is Park Avenue.”

With a net worth estimated by Forbes Magazine at $600-plus million, Masiyiwa is the founder and chairman of Econet Wireless – a global telecoms business started in Zimbabwe which now operates in 15 countries across Africa, Europe, South America and the East Asia Pacific Rim.

A leading and respected entrepreneur, Strive says his Econet group is “one of a small, but rapidly growing number of global companies from Africa that are at the forefront of ensuring that the voice of African business is heard at major international gatherings.

“The company not only participates in such events, but has also actively sponsored, hosted, and supported meetings and dialogues, to promote better understanding concerning African economic issues, as well as social development issues, health and the environment.”
